Project Overview
At a newly constructed residential street in Burstow Gardens, Copthorne, The Jet Wash Fella was brought in to carry out final handover brickwork cleaning across a row of new-build properties.
On new construction sites, bricklayers naturally drop wet mortar and cement slurry onto lower brick elevations as work progresses upward. Our task was to carefully remove all dried mortar spillages (“snots”) and heavy atmospheric build-up to present a pristine, professional finish ready for site handover—all without causing damage to fresh masonry or unsealed window apertures.
Specialist Methods & Execution
- Manual Mortar Snot Scraping:
Before applying any water or pressure, our two-man operative team went over the brickwork by hand, carefully scraping away dried mortar snots and hardened cement lumps that fell during construction. - Targeted Brick Acid Application:
Where stubborn cement slurry and wet mortar had bonded down the walls, we selectively applied specialist brick acid to break down the minerals without over-treating or bleaching surrounding brickwork. - Controlled Fan-Nozzle Pressure Wash:
New bricks and fresh mortar can easily be damaged or pitted by aggressive high-pressure turbo nozzles. We washed all elevations using wide fan nozzles at a controlled, angled trajectory and consistent distance to ensure smooth, uniform coverage across all brick faces without washing out mortar joints. - Unsealed Aperture & Window Protection:
With several window frames still unsealed on-site, our team exercised extra care around frame edges and reveals to prevent water ingress or internal site damage. - Two-Stage Quality Inspection:
Once the walls completely dried, we conducted a thorough second walkthrough inspection across all elevations to identify and re-treat any stubborn spots before handing the site back to the developer.
Project Results Summary
- Entire New-Build Street Cleaned & Prepped for Handover
- Zero Damage to Soft New Face Bricks or Mortar Joints
- Zero Water Ingress Around Unsealed Windows
- Full On-Site Safety & Technique Compliance
