Project Overview

At Gillmans Industrial Estate in Billingshurst, a block of 8 commercial units required extensive exterior maintenance to restore natural light levels inside the buildings and clear heavy organic blockages in the central roof waterways.

Working around active commercial tenants requires precise planning. To ensure zero disruption to daily business operations, delivery traffic, and staff parking, key phases of this work were scheduled and executed over the weekend.

Technical Approach & Key Highlights

High-Resolution 4K Drone Inspection:Before stepping foot on the roof, we deployed a commercial-grade 4K camera drone with full tilt and high zoom. This allowed us to safely inspect inaccessible roof slopes, map damaged gutter sections, and identify trouble spots without requiring initial physical roof access.
Safe High-Level Access:Operatives used a powered cherry picker (MEWP) fitted with full safety harness and fall restraint systems to execute high-level cleaning safely and efficiently.
Restoring Natural Light & Reducing Energy Bills:Years of atmospheric grime and moss accumulation had completely blocked light penetration through the roof skylights. Following our deep restoration clean, internal daylight levels increased drastically—enabling tenants to turn off high-draw overhead electric lighting during daytime operations and achieve immediate energy savings.
Industrial Waterway Clearance:Deep cleared and washed down the large valley gutters between all 8 units, carrying out minor spot repairs to protect the buildings from future rainwater ingress.
