Looking for professional patio and driveway cleaning in Woking?

The Jet Wash Fella provides professional exterior cleaning for homeowners, landlords, letting agents and businesses across Woking and the surrounding Surrey area.

Driveways and patios naturally collect dirt, moss, algae, lichen, weeds and general grime. Over time, this can leave paving looking tired and, particularly where organic growth has built up, potentially slippery underfoot.

With nearly 20 years of experience in exterior cleaning, I don’t believe in simply turning up and using the same pressure-washing method on everything.

The surface determines the cleaning method.

Block paving, concrete, sandstone, porcelain, tarmac and other outdoor surfaces all have different characteristics, so I assess the condition of the area before deciding how best to clean it.

Whether your driveway needs a thorough clean, your patio has become green and weathered, or your block paving needs cleaning and re-sanding, I can provide straightforward advice and a professional service across Woking and surrounding areas.

PROFESSIONAL PATIO AND DRIVEWAY CLEANING IN WOKING

A clean patio or driveway can make a surprisingly big difference to the appearance of your property.

Years of accumulated dirt can hide the natural colour of paving, while moss and algae can make outdoor areas look neglected.

Professional cleaning can help remove or improve:

  • Dirt and general grime
  • Moss
  • Algae
  • Lichen
  • Weeds and organic growth
  • Weathering
  • Leaf staining
  • Some surface staining
  • Built-up traffic dirt
  • Slippery organic contamination

The exact result depends on the surface, its condition and how long the contamination has been present.

I will always aim to give you a realistic idea of what can be achieved rather than promising that every stain can be completely removed.

DRIVEWAY CLEANING IN WOKING

Your driveway is one of the hardest-working external areas around your property.

It has to cope with vehicles, tyres, oil, rain, mud, leaves and everything else that gets carried onto the surface.

Over time, this can leave a driveway looking very different from when it was first installed.

I clean suitable driveway surfaces throughout Woking, including:

  • Block paving
  • Concrete
  • Tarmac
  • Imprinted concrete
  • Resin-bound surfaces
  • Other suitable paved surfaces

The cleaning method is adjusted according to the material and condition.

BLOCK PAVING CLEANING

Block paving can become particularly dirty because moss, weeds and organic growth establish themselves within the joints between the blocks.

A thorough clean can remove built-up contamination and improve the appearance of the entire driveway.

Where appropriate, I can also re-sand the joints with kiln-dried sand after cleaning.

The condition and size of the joints need to be considered first, because not every block-paved driveway requires exactly the same treatment.

CONCRETE DRIVEWAY CLEANING

Concrete can become dark and weathered, particularly in shaded areas or where water remains on the surface.

Professional cleaning can remove accumulated dirt, algae and other surface contamination.

Older concrete does need to be assessed before cleaning, particularly where there are signs of surface deterioration or previous damage.

IMPRINTED CONCRETE

Imprinted concrete has a decorative surface and may also have previously been sealed.

The cleaning approach therefore needs to take the condition of the surface and any existing coating into account.

Cleaning can improve the appearance of dirty or weathered imprinted concrete, but it cannot replace a worn coating or repair physical deterioration.

TARMAC DRIVEWAYS

Tarmac can become covered in moss, algae and general grime, especially in damp or shaded areas.

Older tarmac may already have areas of deterioration, so I take care not to treat an ageing surface as though it were new concrete or block paving.

If your tarmac is loose, badly cracked or breaking down, I’ll tell you before cleaning rather than pretending pressure washing will repair it.

RESIN-BOUND DRIVEWAYS

Resin-bound surfaces require a different approach from block paving and concrete.

The type and condition of the resin surface need to be considered before cleaning, particularly if there is heavy moss or organic growth.

If you’re unsure whether your resin driveway can be professionally cleaned, send me some photographs and I can take a look.

PATIO CLEANING IN WOKING

A patio can completely change the feel of a garden when it is clean.

Unfortunately, patios are also very good at collecting algae, moss, lichen, dirt and weathering.

I clean a variety of patio surfaces, including:

  • Natural sandstone
  • Limestone
  • Concrete paving
  • Porcelain paving
  • Other suitable garden paving
  • Paths and steps
  • Courtyards and outdoor seating areas

The cleaning method depends on the surface.

NATURAL SANDSTONE PATIOS

Sandstone needs particular care because it is a natural and relatively porous stone.

Some sandstone can be softer or more weathered than other paving materials, meaning excessive pressure can potentially remove small pieces or layers from the surface.

I therefore assess the condition of the sandstone before cleaning.

Where appropriate, I use a specialist soft-wash treatment to help break down organic contamination before carefully controlled pressure cleaning.

The aim is to remove the dirt and organic growth while preserving the natural character of the stone.

PORCELAIN PATIO CLEANING

Porcelain is a popular modern patio material, but it still needs the right cleaning approach.

Dirt, algae, moss and organic contamination can build up on outdoor porcelain, particularly in shaded or damp areas.

I assess the surface and use an appropriate method rather than automatically treating porcelain in the same way as concrete or block paving.

CONCRETE AND PAVING SLABS

Concrete slabs and traditional paving can become heavily weathered over time.

A professional clean can remove accumulated dirt, moss and algae and reveal more of the original appearance of the paving.

Where joints have deteriorated or other issues are visible, I’ll point them out rather than simply pressure washing over them.

MOSS, ALGAE AND LICHEN REMOVAL

Moss, algae and lichen are among the most common reasons people contact me about their patios and driveways.

They can make paving look green, black or heavily weathered.

They can also contribute to slippery conditions, particularly during periods of wet weather.

Cleaning can remove the existing organic growth, but future regrowth depends on the environment around the surface.

Shade, trees, moisture, drainage and fallen leaves can all contribute to the problem returning.

That’s why I prefer to explain the cause as well as simply cleaning the visible growth.

WHAT ABOUT BLACK SPOTS ON PATIOS?

Black spotting is particularly common on natural stone patios, including sandstone.

These marks can be extremely stubborn and may be associated with lichen and other organic contamination.

Specialist treatment can help break down this contamination before the surface is carefully cleaned.

However, complete removal cannot be guaranteed.

The final result depends on the age and condition of the paving, how established the contamination is and whether the stone has previously been cleaned aggressively.

MY PATIO AND DRIVEWAY CLEANING PROCESS

Every job is different, but I generally work through the following process.

1. SURFACE ASSESSMENT

I look at the material, condition, joints, staining and organic growth before deciding how best to approach the clean.

2. CLEARING THE AREA

Loose leaves, moss, weeds and other debris are cleared where necessary.

For driveways, vehicles should ideally be moved before work starts so the whole surface can be accessed.

3. PRE-TREATMENT WHERE APPROPRIATE

Depending on the surface, a suitable cleaning treatment may be applied to help loosen organic growth and built-up contamination.

4. CONTROLLED PRESSURE CLEANING

The surface is then cleaned using suitable equipment and pressure for the material.

I don’t believe maximum pressure automatically produces the best result.

The right pressure for the surface is more important than simply using the most powerful setting available.

5. DETAILING AND EDGES

Particular attention can be given to edges, joints and areas where moss and dirt have accumulated.

6. RE-SANDING WHERE REQUIRED

For suitable block paving, kiln-dried sand can be brushed back into the joints after cleaning once the surface is ready.

7. CLEAN-UP

The area and immediate surroundings are cleaned up as part of the job, leaving the property tidy rather than leaving piles of removed moss, dirt and sludge behind.

WHY THE CLEANING METHOD MATTERS

Pressure washing is not simply about how powerful the machine is.

A surface can be damaged if the wrong method is used.

For example:

Block paving may require joint cleaning and re-sanding.

Sandstone may require specialist treatment and controlled pressure because excessive pressure can damage softer stone.

Porcelain requires care around the surface and joints.

Tarmac can deteriorate if an already weakened surface is treated too aggressively.

Imprinted concrete may have existing coatings that need to be considered.

This is why experience matters.

I’ve been cleaning exterior surfaces for nearly 20 years, and I’ve learned that the best approach is to understand the surface before deciding how to clean it.

CAN DRIVEWAY AND PATIO CLEANING MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE?

Absolutely.

A heavily weathered driveway can sometimes look as though it needs replacing simply because years of dirt, moss and organic growth have changed its appearance.

Likewise, a patio that has become green and dark can hide much of the natural colour of the paving.

Professional cleaning can make a dramatic visual difference.

However, cleaning isn’t magic.

It cannot reverse cracked paving, badly eroded surfaces, permanent staining or physical damage that has already occurred.

The objective is to achieve the best realistic result for the condition of the surface.

BEFORE AND AFTER PATIO AND DRIVEWAY CLEANING

Before-and-after photographs are often the easiest way to see what professional exterior cleaning can achieve.

The difference can be particularly noticeable where years of moss, algae, dirt and weathering have built up.

Rather than simply telling you that a surface will look better, I prefer to show genuine examples of the work.

The transformation often speaks for itself.

PATIO AND DRIVEWAY CLEANING FOR HOMES AND BUSINESSES

Most of my patio and driveway work is residential, but I also provide exterior cleaning for suitable commercial properties.

This can include:

  • Business entrances
  • Forecourts
  • Commercial paving
  • Walkways
  • Shared access areas
  • Small car parks
  • Customer-facing outdoor areas

Commercial work may require additional consideration around access, water supply, drainage, pedestrian areas and working hours.

WHY CHOOSE THE JET WASH FELLA?

I’ve been working in exterior cleaning for nearly 20 years.

I take pride in doing the job properly and giving customers straightforward advice.

That means I won’t recommend unnecessary work simply to increase the price of a job.

If a surface needs a particular approach, I’ll explain why.

If something cannot realistically be restored through cleaning, I’ll tell you.

And if I think a surface could be damaged by aggressive cleaning, I’d rather explain the risk than simply turn up and blast it.

Good exterior cleaning isn’t just about having a powerful pressure washer. It’s about knowing how and where to use it.

1. WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER FOR PATIO AND DRIVEWAY CLEANING?

I provide patio and driveway cleaning in Woking and surrounding areas including Knaphill, Horsell, Pyrford, Mayford, Send, Ripley, Ottershaw, Brookwood, West Byfleet, Goldsworth Park, Kingfield and Woodham. I also cover wider areas of Surrey and Sussex depending on the job.

2. WHAT TYPES OF DRIVEWAYS CAN YOU CLEAN?

I clean suitable block paving, concrete, tarmac, imprinted concrete, resin-bound surfaces and other suitable driveway materials. The method is adjusted according to the surface and its condition.

3. WHAT TYPES OF PATIOS CAN YOU CLEAN?

I clean many types of outdoor paving, including natural sandstone, limestone, concrete paving, porcelain and other suitable patio surfaces. Different materials require different cleaning methods.

4. CAN YOU REMOVE MOSS, ALGAE AND LICHEN FROM PATIOS AND DRIVEWAYS?

Yes. Moss, algae and lichen can usually be removed or significantly improved through appropriate treatment and cleaning. The final result depends on how established the growth is and the condition of the surface.

5. CAN YOU REMOVE BLACK SPOTS FROM SANDSTONE?

Specialist treatment can help improve black spotting and lichen on sandstone. However, complete removal cannot be guaranteed because results depend on the age, condition and severity of the contamination.

6. CAN PRESSURE WASHING DAMAGE MY PATIO OR DRIVEWAY?

It can if the wrong method or excessive pressure is used. I assess the surface first and adjust the cleaning approach according to the material and condition.

7. DO YOU RE-SAND BLOCK PAVING AFTER CLEANING?

Yes, where appropriate. Once the cleaned block paving is sufficiently ready, kiln-dried sand can be brushed back into the joints to replace lost jointing material.

8. CAN YOU REMOVE OIL STAINS FROM A DRIVEWAY?

I can treat oil and fuel staining and attempt to improve its appearance. However, complete removal cannot always be guaranteed, particularly where oil has penetrated deeply into porous concrete or block paving.

9. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY PATIO OR DRIVEWAY CLEANED?

There is no single schedule that suits every property. Shade, trees, drainage, moisture, weather and general use all affect how quickly organic growth and dirt return. Some properties may benefit from annual maintenance, while others may need cleaning less frequently.

10. HOW LONG DOES PATIO OR DRIVEWAY CLEANING TAKE?

It depends on the size, surface and condition of the area. A small patio or driveway may take a few hours, while larger or heavily contaminated areas can take considerably longer.

11. DO I NEED TO MOVE MY CAR BEFORE DRIVEWAY CLEANING?

Ideally, yes. Moving vehicles allows the entire driveway to be cleaned properly and avoids leaving inaccessible sections around parked cars.

12. DO YOU CLEAN UP AFTER PRESSURE WASHING?

Yes. I aim to leave the working area tidy and remove the loose dirt, moss and debris generated during the cleaning process.

13. CAN YOU CLEAN SANDSTONE WITHOUT DAMAGING IT?

Sandstone needs careful consideration because it can be softer and more porous than some other paving materials. I assess the condition first and can use specialist treatment followed by carefully controlled pressure cleaning where appropriate.
