If your patio or driveway in East Grinstead has become dirty, green, slippery, stained or covered in years of built-up grime, The Jet Wash Fella can help.

I provide professional patio and driveway cleaning in East Grinstead and surrounding RH19 areas, cleaning everything from block-paved driveways and natural sandstone patios to concrete, tarmac, porcelain and other suitable outdoor surfaces.

With over 20 years of hands-on experience in exterior cleaning, I don’t believe in simply turning the pressure washer up and blasting everything in sight.

The material, condition and type of contamination determine the cleaning method.

That is particularly important when cleaning older paving, natural stone and surfaces that may already have been weathered or damaged.

PROFESSIONAL PATIO AND DRIVEWAY CLEANING IN EAST GRINSTEAD

Your driveway and patio are exposed to the weather all year round.

Rain, shade, fallen leaves, dirt, algae, moss, lichen and general use gradually build up on outdoor surfaces. In some areas, particularly those that stay damp or shaded, organic growth can become a real problem.

Driveways can also suffer from tyre marks, oil contamination, weeds and ingrained road dirt, while patios often develop green algae, moss and black spotting.

A professional clean can make a noticeable difference to the appearance of these areas.

WHAT PATIOS AND DRIVEWAYS CAN YOU CLEAN?

I clean a wide range of outdoor surfaces, including:

  • Block paving
  • Natural sandstone
  • Indian sandstone
  • Limestone
  • Concrete
  • Imprinted concrete
  • Porcelain paving
  • Yorkstone
  • Tarmac
  • Suitable resin-bound surfaces
  • Patio slabs
  • Garden paths
  • Steps and paved walkways
  • Outdoor seating areas

Not every surface should be cleaned in exactly the same way.

Before starting, I assess the material and its condition so the cleaning method can be adjusted accordingly.

DRIVEWAY CLEANING IN EAST GRINSTEAD

Driveways take a lot of punishment.

Vehicles bring in dirt from the road, oil and other contaminants can build up over time, and shaded areas can become covered in moss and algae.

Block paving can also develop weeds and moss between the joints.

A professional driveway clean can remove much of this surface contamination and make the whole entrance to your property look considerably cleaner.

BLOCK PAVED DRIVEWAY CLEANING

Block paving is one of the most common driveway surfaces I clean.

Over time, dirt, moss, algae and weeds can develop across the blocks and within the joints.

A thorough clean can remove built-up contamination from the surface.

Where appropriate, the driveway can then be re-sanded with kiln-dried sand once it has been cleaned and is sufficiently dry.

The condition and size of the joints are checked first because not every block-paved surface requires exactly the same treatment.

CONCRETE AND IMPRINTED CONCRETE DRIVEWAYS

Concrete driveways can accumulate years of dirt, algae, moss and weather staining.

Imprinted concrete can also require particular care because the surface finish and pattern need to be considered during cleaning.

The cleaning method is adjusted according to the condition of the surface rather than simply using maximum pressure.

TARMAC DRIVEWAY CLEANING

Tarmac can become dirty, green and weathered, particularly in shaded areas.

It requires a different approach from block paving or concrete, and aggressive cleaning can potentially affect an already weathered surface.

I assess the condition of the tarmac before deciding on the most suitable cleaning method.

PATIO CLEANING IN EAST GRINSTEAD

Patios are often one of the most noticeable parts of a garden.

When moss, algae, dirt and weathering build up, the paving can lose its original colour and become slippery underfoot.

I clean patios made from a range of materials, including natural stone, sandstone, porcelain, concrete and block paving.

NATURAL SANDSTONE PATIO CLEANING

Natural sandstone needs particular care.

It is porous and relatively soft compared with many manufactured paving products, so excessive pressure can remove small layers of stone or leave the surface uneven.

Where appropriate, I use a specialist soft-wash treatment to help loosen organic contamination before carefully controlled pressure cleaning.

The objective is not to aggressively blast the sandstone.

It is to remove the contamination while helping to preserve the natural character, colour and texture of the stone.

PORCELAIN PATIO CLEANING

Outdoor porcelain is generally a hard-wearing paving material, but dirt, algae and organic growth can still accumulate on the paving and around the joints.

Porcelain requires a different approach from porous natural stone.

I assess the paving and joints first before choosing the appropriate cleaning method.

CONCRETE AND PAVED PATIOS

Concrete and other manufactured paving can become heavily weathered over time.

Moss, algae, dirt and general grime can build up, particularly where the patio is shaded or rarely used.

The cleaning method is chosen according to the age and condition of the surface.

MOSS, ALGAE AND WEED REMOVAL

One of the most common reasons customers contact me is because their patio or driveway has become green and slippery.

Moss and algae can develop particularly quickly where surfaces remain damp or shaded.

Cleaning can remove the existing contamination from the surface, although future regrowth depends on the surrounding conditions.

Factors such as:

  • Shade
  • Moisture
  • Drainage
  • Trees and vegetation
  • Weather
  • How often the surface is used

can all affect how quickly organic growth returns.

BLACK SPOTS AND LICHEN ON PATIOS

Black spotting can be particularly noticeable on natural stone, including sandstone.

Some black marks are associated with lichen and other organic contamination and can be difficult to remove completely.

Specialist treatment can significantly improve the appearance of these areas, but very established staining may remain.

I prefer to explain what is realistically achievable before cleaning rather than promise that every mark will disappear.

OIL STAINS AND DRIVEWAY MARKS

Driveways can develop oil marks, tyre marks and other staining over time.

Specialist treatments can sometimes improve oil and other stubborn stains, but older contamination can penetrate into porous materials.

For that reason, complete removal cannot always be guaranteed.

The condition and material of the driveway will affect the final result.

MY PATIO AND DRIVEWAY CLEANING PROCESS

1. SURFACE ASSESSMENT

I start by identifying the material, condition and type of contamination.

This is particularly important with natural stone, older paving and surfaces that have previously been cleaned.

2. CLEARING AND PREPARATION

Loose leaves, dirt, weeds and debris are cleared where necessary before the main cleaning begins.

3. PRE-TREATMENT

Where appropriate, a specialist cleaning solution or soft-wash treatment is applied to help loosen organic contamination.

This can be particularly useful on patios affected by algae, moss and lichen.

4. CONTROLLED CLEANING

The surface is then cleaned using equipment and pressure appropriate to the material.

I don’t believe maximum pressure automatically produces the best clean.

The aim is to remove the contamination effectively while taking the condition of the surface into account.

5. RINSING AND CLEAN-UP

The area is thoroughly rinsed after cleaning and surrounding areas are checked for remaining dirt and debris.

6. RE-SANDING WHERE APPROPRIATE

If a block-paved driveway or patio has lost jointing sand, kiln-dried sand can be brushed back into the joints once the paving is sufficiently clean and dry.

BEFORE & AFTER PATIO AND DRIVEWAY CLEANING

A good before-and-after photograph can show just how much difference professional exterior cleaning can make.

Years of dirt, moss, algae and weathering can hide the natural colour of paving.

Once the contamination has been removed, the difference can be striking.

With natural sandstone in particular, careful cleaning can reveal colours and patterns that have been hidden beneath years of grime.

WHY CHOOSE THE JET WASH FELLA?

OVER 20 YEARS OF HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE

I’ve been working in exterior cleaning for more than 20 years.

That experience has involved cleaning a wide range of paving, stone, brickwork and other exterior surfaces.

THE SURFACE DETERMINES THE METHOD

A powerful pressure washer is only part of the job.

Knowing what you’re cleaning, understanding the condition of the surface and choosing the appropriate method are just as important.

HONEST, PRACTICAL ADVICE

If a stain is unlikely to come out completely, I’ll tell you.

If a surface needs a gentler approach, I’ll explain why.

I’d rather give you realistic expectations before starting than promise something the material may not allow.

PROFESSIONAL EQUIPMENT

I use professional pressure-cleaning equipment and specialist cleaning treatments appropriate to the work being carried out.

LOCAL EAST GRINSTEAD SERVICE

Based in Crawley, I regularly travel to East Grinstead, RH19 and surrounding areas for residential and commercial exterior cleaning.
